Little Seeds Programme

Early Childhood

Wonder, play and the roots of discovery...

At Marinela, we believe the earliest years deserve time, space and gentleness. Our Little Seeds Programme is designed for children aged 18 months to 4 years, discovering the world alongside a parent or caregiver.

Mornings unfold outdoors in a tropical park among gardens, animals and ponds. Children move at their own pace, led by curiosity rather than a timetable. Through unhurried rhythms, natural materials and long stretches of time in nature, children build confidence, independence and a genuine love of the natural world. Small groups and familiar faces mean every child is known, and every family is welcomed into the wider life of the school.

A Gentle First Step

Welcome to Little Seeds

A calm, nature-rich beginning for children aged 18 months to 4 years, shared with someone they love. Through play, movement and time outdoors, children take their first confident steps into the world beyond home.

What We Do

Each morning begins at 8:30am at the Little Seeds Zone, with a gentle circle of songs, movement and welcome. This shared start helps children settle into the rhythm of the day before families move on to the featured experience of the morning.

Sessions run Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 11am, during term time. Little Seeds is designed to be shared. A parent or caregiver stays for the whole session.

Every morning includes:

  • Morning circle with songs, rhymes and movement
  • Free play and nature exploration
  • Farm visits and animal feeding
  • Sensory play with natural materials
  • Movement and coordination games
  • Nature crafts and seasonal activities
  • A healthy shared snack
  • Stories, songs and rhymes
  • A closing circle to say goodbye

Our Weekly Rhythm

Each day of the week has its own character, so children come to know what to expect and look forward to what comes next. Repetition builds security, and familiarity gives children the confidence to explore further each week.

Our week unfolds as follows:

  • Monday, Farm and Nature: Animal feeding, gardening, nature exploration, sensory play and free outdoor play.
  • Tuesday, Bamboo Zone Adventure: Free movement, creativity and discovery in our bamboo grove, where children climb, build and invent.
  • Wednesday, Pond Exploration: Watching for dragonflies and fish, gentle water-based sensory play, and quiet walks around the pond.
  • Thursday, Outdoor Movement: Obstacle courses, ball games, balance and coordination challenges, running and climbing.
  • Friday, Indoor Movement Studio: Soft play, climbing, balancing, building, music and imaginative movement in the school hall.

How We Do It

We keep groups small and mornings unhurried. All materials are natural and open-ended, chosen to invite imagination rather than direct it. Our educators observe closely and step in lightly, trusting children to lead their own discovery.

Because activities take place outdoors in the park, forest and other natural spaces rather than in a classroom, the accompanying adult stays with their child throughout and remains responsible for them at all times. Children explore from a place of security, returning for reassurance whenever they need it and venturing a little further each time.

Why It Matters

The first years shape everything that follows. Time spent barefoot on grass, hands in soil, close to animals and close to someone who loves them, builds far more than early skills. It builds a settled, unhurried child, a trusting relationship with the natural world, and a curiosity that lasts a lifetime.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child into these gentle mornings together.

Sharing Food and Company

Snack time offers a gentle pause in the morning, as families gather around a beautifully laid table to share wholesome food and easy company. Children wash their hands to a simple song and help carry and set out what has been prepared. When everyone is settled, we begin together.

For very young children, eating alongside others with a familiar adult close by is a rich social experience in itself, one that quietly builds patience, attentiveness and a sense of belonging.

Out In All Weathers

Our mornings are spent almost entirely outdoors, across the park, the farm and the nature areas, so it helps to arrive ready for the day. Comfortable clothes that can get muddy, a sun hat and a water bottle are all worth packing, along with a change of clothes and nappies or wipes if you need them.

The nearest bathroom is in the main school building, some distance from where we gather, so we suggest bringing a portable potty if your child is toilet training.

Everything else is provided:

  • A healthy shared snack
  • All creative materials
  • Music and movement
  • Farm and nature experiences
  • Seasonal activities and celebrations
